Public Utility Company Elektro-Slovenija, d.o.o. (ELES) has the exclusive right to perform public services of the transmission system operator in the Republic of Slovenia. The Founder and the sole owner of the Company is the State.

ELES is responsible for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of Slovenia´s 400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV transmission systems as well as for the co-ordinated operation and interconnection with neighbouring networks in the context of European association of electrical power system operation (ENTSO-E).

ELES´ electric energy transmission network encompasses 1.766 km of 110 kV transmission lines and 7 pertaining transformers, 328 km of 220 kV transmission lines and 10 pertaining transformers, together with 508 km 400 kV transmission lines and 11 pertaining transformers. Thus ELES is accordingly responsible for 2.602 km of high tension transmission network, of which 11,9 km is ducted underground. The total power of transformer apparent power in flow control across transmission lines is 1.200 MVA.

Slovenian Power System is also very well connected with neighbouring power systems. We are connected to Austria with 400 kV and 220 kV transmission line, to Italy with 400 kV and 220 kV, with Croatia with 2 x 400 kV, 2 x 220 kV and 3 x 110 kV transmission lines, while between Hungary and Slovenia there is currently no connection, but a 400 kV line between Cirkovce-Pince is planned to be constructed.

In addition to bi-lateral relation with neighbouring system operators, ELES is also involved in regional and European associations of system operators within ENTSO-E. ELES is moreover, included in three regional associations, on the Slovenian-Austrian border in the Central-East region (CEE), on the Slovenian-Italian border in the Central-South region (CSE) and at the Slovenian-Croatian border in the South-East region (SEE).

Within these associations ELES experts actively participate in various working groups, and in the CEE region ELES was also a co-founder of the Central Allocation Office (CAO).
